Trixie can't wait to bring her one-of-a-kind Knuffle Bunny to school and show him off to everyone. But when she gets there, she sees something awful: Sonja has the same bunny. Suddenly, Knuffle Bunny doesn't seem so one-of-a-kind anymore. Chaos ensues until the bunnies are taken away by Ms. Greengrove. After school, Trixie finally gets her beloved bunny back. But in the middle of the night, Trixie realizes something. She has the wrong bunny!

Daddy comes to the rescue again as a midnight swap is arranged with the other bunny, the other little girl, and the other daddy. Needless to say, the daddies are not very happy. By the end of the story Trixie has her beloved bunny back, but she has also gained something new: her very first best friend.

We love the whole Knuffle Bunny series! Do your kids have a favorite toy? Some of mine do, some don't. Christopher had "Bumby", a soft brown rabbit. He used to suck on first the tag, then when it fell off, the ear every night to fall asleep. You can see end (pardon the pun) result!

Shane had "Mine Kitty"

And Logan had his "Buddy". Don't be fooled by how relatively new it looks...it has gone through a few reincarnations over the years! (Tip for new parents: the second your child develops a favorite, buy a second one - or a third - and stash it away!)

Kitty thinks she might be a unicorn.

She feels so perfectly unicorn-y! “Neigh!” says Kitty.

But when Unicorn clop clop clops over, sweeping his magnificent tail and neighing a mighty neigh, Kitty feels no bigger than a ball of lint.

Can this unlikely pair embrace who they are and truly see each other?

Kitty is astonished to find that someone she admires, admires her! That happens so often, doesn't it? We find it easier to see the good things in others but are too hard on ourselves.

Pin up a paper for each family member, and throughout the week, write down positive traits you notice about each other. Take some time at the end of the week to let each person read their own paper out loud. No arguing or downplaying, you own those compliments!

Every baby mammal, from a tiny harvest mouse "pinky" to a fierce lion cub, needs food, shelter, love, and a family. Filled with illustrations of some of the most adorable babies in the kingdom, Born in the Wild is an awww-inspiring look at the traits that all baby mammals share and proves that, even though they're born in the wild, they're not so very different from us, after all!

Science

Sometimes babies look like their parents, and sometimes they do not. Make a list of ten animals at random, then find out what they look like at birth. Are they look-alikes, or what-is-THATs? Check out newborn (not just baby) hedgehogs and dragonfly larvae. What about flies?

Being a twin is great! Sometimes our friends can’t tell us apart.

A boy and his twin do everything together―leapfrog and piggyback rides, dancing and disagreeing, and everything in between! Their relationship has its ups and downs, but in the end, it’s great knowing there’s someone in their world who is just like them. This charming picture book is a sweet and silly celebration of twinhood―whether you look alike or not!

I had a colleague at work that I always used to call my twin. She is a foot taller than me, has straight black hair to my curly brown, and generally we look nothing alike. But we both have way too many pets, love kids, and think measuring when you cook is for sissies. Twins!

What do you and your friends do or love that makes you twins? Pick a day to dress alike and have a twinning party where you do all your favorite things and eat all your favorite foods together!

Math

1 - Looking at two of something segues nicely into counting by twos. See how high you can go! What about counting by threes? By fives? Write the numbers and look for patterns that can help you figure out what number comes next.

2 - Symmetry (kid friendly definition) is when, if you fold something in half, it looks the same on both sides. The organized part of my brain finds it especially pleasing when kids are playing with the castle blocks at the library and build something symmetrical! An easy way to make symmetrical art is to use folded paper. Use your scissors to cut a shape out of a paper folded in half, and open it up. Symmetrical! Dab some paint on one side, fold it in half, and smooth it all over. Open it up: symmetrical!

Cooking

Zucchini Brownies
These look like regular chocolate brownies, but they have a ton of hidden veggies in them!

In bowl one, mix:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp salt

In bowl two, mix:
1/2 cup oil
 1 1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups shredded zuchhini

Mix both bowls together. Spread into greased baking pan (smaller size if you want thicker brownies, bigger if you want thinner). Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

Science/Social Studies

Cloning has made science news in recent years, and with it comes questions of scientific ethics. Here is a simple explanation from Encyclopedia Brittanica. Depending on the age of your child, discuss the potential ramifications of creating a new life without actual parents. What would be the pros and cons? For animals? For people?
